“Anker Laser Gaming Mouse 8000 DPI 9 Button Unboxing & Review by ZeeReviewZ”
“The Deathadder’s younger, cheaper cousin :
Initially I was surprised to see that Anker had entered the gaming mouse industry, as they seem to be more of a peripheral company. However, I was quickly surprised at the quality of the mouse at it’s price point. The build quality is up to par with other manufacturers, it has features that I’ve only seen on the very high end Logitech and Razer mice, and to top it all off, a surprisingly good software package.
The Packaging:
You’ll receive a fairly standard blue box with the mouse itself placed between layers of plastic, and the braided thick USB cable tied in the back. (Previous Razer customers will notice the similarity to the packaging on their mice.) Behind all of that you’ll find the documentation as a silver tube with the weights inside it. (More on that in a bit.) Please note that it doesn’t include a disc with the software on it, you’ll need to go to Anker’s website to download that. Overall it’s fine packaging that keeps the mouse safe during transport, which is a tad unusual for budget mice.
The Mouse:
Once you’ve plugged in the mouse, you’ll see all of the LEDs light up and the Anker emblem on the back start to “breathe.” The next thing you’ll notice is the ergonomics of it. If feels sort of like a Logitech G700 and a Razer Deathadder had a child. Let me tell you, this child is awesome! I’m honestly surprised that it feels this comfortable. Usually budget mice just feel a bit off, like it was an idea that just wasn’t fleshed out completely, but not this. Anker did their homework on this one. You’ll also notice that the three buttons near your thumb are also very comfortable to use. (More so than the two on my Deathadder.) Once again, kudos to Anker on the ergonomics. The clicking is as expected on any mouse these days. It’s crisp and solid, not much else to be said. The tracking is also surprisingly great, and is definitely on par with my Deathadder 3.5g. Finally, these really surprising feature is the weight system included. I’ve never even heard of a mouse in this price point having a system like this, which is really awesome. I personally love heavy mice, so this was a dream for me. However, there are 8 individual weights, so you can easily pick your favorite amount. Honestly though, there aren’t any glaring flaws with the product itself. I just can’t think of anything that I don’t like about it.
The Software:
I was surprised that they didn’t include a disk, but that probably would have driven the price up, so we’ll give them a pass. After loading up the software you’ll notice that it is very professional looking, and has many features. Most of them are the standard fare (Acceleration, sensitivity, scroll speed, double click speed, polling rate and DPI), but you’ll also notice that the DPI tab has sliders for each of the four ‘steps’ available, these let you scale the DPI for the X and Y axis which is a really cool feature. Even more so, the mouse itself has a DPI selection button on it, which lets you choose the step you want, whenever you want. It also has a nice little tab for controlling the color and intensity of the emblem on the mouse, which is nice a feature missing from the Deathadder software. Finally there is a tab that handles updating the software, which is always handy.
So, in conclusion, this is a very interesting mouse, that feels very similar to some other, much more expensive mice. I was shocked at how good it was, and definitely won’t be buying any more Razer mice if Anker keeps putting out quality products like these.
TL:DR Razer/Logitech quality + good software + great ergonomics + budget price point = Big winner! Highly recommend! — Nick S.”
“High end, incredible mouse and shocking value compared to competitors. :
After about a week of research and deliberation I decided to purchase this Anker gaming mouse over its competitors. Specifically, I was interested in a laser mouse with high DPI and polling rate options, but with custom profiles available at the users discretion instead of fixed preset settings. I was also looking for a mouse with a more natural, comfortable design (palm resting grip), coming from using a MS Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000, another laser mouse that fulfilled its role as a portable option, but was not ideal for home and game use, and required a more ‘claw-like’ grip, using your thumb and ring fingers to hold the mouse with an arched hand, which was precise for delicate work but forced and awkward in a more tense game setting. So, for comfort, the Anker mouse was an instant relief.
I was also interested in additional, customizable side buttons. I used to play primarily FPS games, but now play MOBA games almost exclusively, LoL in particular. For that reason, I was deciding between this mouse and the Razer Naga Hex mouse. The 6 side buttons on that mouse were attractive, but there was a pretty distinct difference in the inconsistent reviews of that mouse compared to the almost universally loved reviews of this one. After a short time using this mouse it became clearly apparent why people enjoy this mouse so much.
First, an often overlooked point in reviews of mice – the left and right mouse buttons are fantastic. They are well shaped, good sized, well gripped, quick, crisp, responsive, and easy to depress. That said, there is sufficient resistance, so you won’t find yourself accidentally clicking buttons like with lesser, cheap, flimsy mice. They also sound good – responsive, and distinct (left is rapid, right sounds more intentional) but not to the point where they are overly loud or annoying at all. Also the scroll wheel is a great, rubberized, with short noticeable (almost silent) ticks as it turns that also strikes a great balance between ease of use and ample resistance to prevent accidental input.
The mouse is packaged impressively, securely, and was free of mechanical or cosmetic defect. Installation was a snap. I plugged the gold-plated UBS connector (surely a nice touch, even if it doesn’t translate to much of a quantitatively significant effect) and the mouse was instantly recognized by Windows 7 and installed the basic drivers. I went and downloaded the latest drivers from ianker.com (took about a minute to navigate to and download – about 3 clicks, simple to find, and without hoops or fluff) and installed them in less than another minute. I was then presented with the incredible customizable profiles where the buttons can be programmed and even a macro can be recorded and reproduced (a nice added benefit). Even the ability to customize the mouse lighting, color, intensity, and pulsating rate were all great touches on an already technically superior mouse. Finally, the case containing 8 metal weights that can be inserted into a compartment on the underside of the mouse (in a revolver arrangement, allowing a balanced or asymmetric weight distribution) were much appreciated, coming from using a wireless mouse that contained 2 AA batteries and was definitely on the heavy side. Adding the weight made it easier to adjust to this mouse, and I’m sure in time I’ll come up with my own preferred weight, but just having that option is great.
The side buttons are positioned incredibly well for right-handed use. They are also crisp and responsive, and distinct enough to easily tell the three apart from each other. The button to change profiles is easily accessible, and there are 4 lights on the top of the mouse, left of the left mouse button, signifying which profile is currently active. You can also disable one or more profiles so that it only switches between two, for instance, e.g. profile 2 at moderate DPI and profile 3 and high DPI, for on the fly changes according to game specific (or otherwise) needs. — Michael”
